PHOTO OF THE DAY : JOAN'S COVERED THE MARKET IN FITNESS & BEAUTY!

Had a query wondering if Joan ever had a fitness video, so decided to feature this little seen Australian sleeve for the down under release of 'Secrets of Fitness & Beauty' in 1994. This video tied in with Joan's bestselling book 'My Secrets'. A follow up video 'The Perfect Ten' was only available in the UK, this had the emphasis on diet & lifestyle. Although Jane Fonda was one of the first to make the fitness tape a money spinner.. Joan as far back as 1980, had her own video called 'The Joan Collins Video Special' which among other things featured a beauty and exercise section.. As of yet, none of Joan's fitness and beauty programs are available on dvd...

PRESS UPDATE : HELLO! JUNE 24TH 2014...

Joan Collins: 'Duchess Kate is a brilliant role model'

24 JUNE 2014
Having been in the public eye for 60 years, Joan Collins knows the world of showbiz inside out.

The former Dynasty star is familiar with royalty, too, having met the Queen on more than one occasion.

"Whenever I have met the Queen she has been utterly charming and totally involved," she told HELLO! Online in an exclusive interview.

Joan Collins pictured with the Queen earlier this year

She's also a fan of the monarch's granddaughter-in-law, the Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton.

"I think the Duchess is extremely glamorous and dresses herself brilliantly," she said.

"She is a great role model."

Joan has met countless celebrities. "At 20, I was whisked off to Hollywood and suddenly I was meeting people like Bob Hope and Marilyn Monroe," she said.

"One of my favourites was Gene Kelly. He was so wonderful to me. He took me under his wing and used to invite me to his house where I would hang out with him, Marlon Brando and Paul Newman. Looking back it seems incredible, but at the time it felt perfectly natural."

Joan Collins poses with products from her beauty range, Timeless Beauty

Her all-time best celebrity story actually involves movie star Marlon.

"When Marlon came to dinner in my tiny Hollywood flat, he said he was on a diet and ate absolutely nothing. We all went into the sitting room after dinner and Marlon suddenly left the room.

"After about half an hour we went in search of him and found him in the kitchen, sitting on the counter, polishing off a carton of chocolate ice cream and surrounded by empty cartons of other assorted flavors. His expression was that of a naughty little boy caught stealing the jam.

“I thought you we’re dieting?” I said.

“I got hungry,” he replied with a sheepish grin.

Joan is as glamorous as ever. She even has her very own make-up range, entitled Joan Collins Timeless Beauty.

Explaining her decision to launch her own line, Joan said it has been "a dream of mine for many, many years. I have a passion for beauty, and I believe that, with the right products, and helpful tips and techniques, every woman can look good, whatever her age."

She was taught her make-up by the best. "When I started in Hollywood, I was given expert tips by Marilyn Monroe's make-up artist Allan 'Whitey' Snyder. I wanted to share that knowledge with women today as it's just as applicable."

When it comes to make-up essentials, Joan cannot live without a lipstick and a foundation. "I wouldn't dream of going out without either!" she said.

Asked about her top make-up top, Joan advises investing in a good foundation.

"A good base can really help disguise any tell-tale signs of ageing. It's about base, not Botox! I always wear foundation as I believe it helps act as another barrier between skin and harmful elements that can aggravate skin.

"My Timeless Beauty First Base Foundation contains hydrating skincare benefits as well as a natural cover."

Joan Collins Timeless Beauty is available from joancollinsbeauty.com. Prices range from £12 - £50.

PRESS UPDATE : BELFAST TELEGRAPH... JUNE 20TH 2014...

Joan Collins chooses good make-up over surgery

Joan Collins’s beauty mantra is “base, not botox”.
She looks amazing and she largely puts it down to good makeup.
While many leading actresses of today have had cosmetic procedures, Joan likes to stick to her own motto to look good.
“I’ve always said ‘base, not Botox.’ With the proper application of makeup, you can take ten to 15 years off your age—easily,” she told WWD.
But it wasn’t always this way. When the Dynasty star first started making movies, she was very bohemian, and wouldn’t wear any makeup in-between filming. And while her hair is now perfectly coiffed at all times, back then she had bangs that skimmed her nose, much to the chagrin of the studio executives.
“’Oh my God, I can’t even look at you, you’re so hideous!’” Joan recalls the director of her 1955 film, The Girl in the Red Velvet Swing, saying. “’Put some makeup on….And what is with the hair?’ I was one of the last contract ladies at Twentieth Century Fox and the studios laid down the law.”
Thankfully help was at hand in the form of Allan “Whitey” Snyder, Marilyn Monroe’s personal makeup artist. He taught Joan all the tricks of the trade and to this day, all her contracts stipulate that she must do her own makeup.
“The only time I don’t is when I play a character role, like the Wicked Witch for the BBC. Other than that, I do my own,” she revealed.
Joan is now sharing her beauty wisdom via her own cosmetics line, Joan Collins Timeless Beauty. The brand launched in the UK in March and is a makeup, skin care and fragrance collection.

PRESS UPDATE : THE INDEPENDENT .. MY LIFE IN TRAVEL .. JUNE 13TH 2014 ..

My life in travel: Joan Collins
Actress and author, Joan Collins, is an ambassador for door-to-door luggage service, First Luggage(firstluggagevip.com).
First holiday memory?
Going into the water in Brighton with my mother and nanny, splashing about. I was about four and we were evacuated there, and to many other places, such as Ilfracombe, Bognor Regis and Chichester, which I don't remember.
Favourite place in the British Isles?
London. It's my home and where I grew up. It's the buzziest, busiest city in the world – certainly more than Paris, Rome or Los Angeles. I love the taxi drivers, the newspapers, the camaraderie of Londoners and all the different areas – a favourite is around Belgravia, where I live.
Best holiday?
All the times I spend at my villa in the south of France. I import friends and we play cards, poker and Scrabble. We swim and watch any one of the 500 DVDs I have. I love that house. It's very rural and cut off from everybody.
What have you learnt from your travels?
Always over-pack. I always do it, it's a running joke between my husband, Percy, and me. But a couple of years ago, we were going to Paris for four or five days and the weather was supposed to be beautiful. It was May, so I decided what I was going to wear on Friday, Saturday, Sunday etc.
It poured with rain and was freezing cold and I hadn't taken extra sweaters or boots, as I normally would. I had to buy more things to protect myself from the weather. Now, I do the complete opposite of what all the magazines say.
Ideal travelling companion?
Percy. He takes care of everything, so I don't have to worry. He makes all the bookings, he organises the car, he's totally in control and knows what's going on. He does all the things most men are supposed to do, but many don't.
We were just in Barbados and it was absolutely divine. I've loved it ever since I first went there and made a movie called Island in the Sun with Harry Belafonte and Joan Fontaine. This time, I performed my one-woman show at the Holders Festival, but we also stayed for 10 days in a glorious house with a wonderful sea view.
Holiday reading?
I like Ken Follett books. I've just finished one of his. I like Peter James too, he's got a new one coming out this month and has a series about detective inspector Roy Grace. I love biographies and autobiographies. The last one that I read was Mr S: My Life with Frank Sinatra, written by his valet, George Jacobs.
Where has seduced you?
I fell for France when I was a teenager and first went there at 14. We went first to northern France, then to Juan-les-Pins for family holidays and I've now graduated to St-Tropez. It's the culture, the food, the light, the atmosphere and the people. I spend three or four months a year in my house near St-Tropez. My French is appalling, but I find it very civilised and a lot of fun.
Worst travel experience?
Going to Jamaica a few years ago and trying to land in a storm. The very good pilot made three attempts. It was not a gale, more of a hurricane, so eventually he went to a nearby airport instead.
The bottom line was that, the next day, they were going to take off in the same plane again, so I said: "No, I'll go in a car." We stupidly got in a car, had to go around some mountains and it took about five hours to get there. It was a pretty hairy trip, I have to say.
Best hotel?
I've always loved the Ritz in Paris. For me, that was the height of elegance and glamour. I haven't been for a while but, in the Eighties, I took up a whole floor because I was doing a mini series, called Sins, which I was producing and starring in. I had two children, the secretary, the husband and we were treated beautifully. It's a wonderful hotel with old-fashioned attributes.
Favourite walk?
I'm not much of a walking fan, but if I'm going to, I'll walk down Fifth Avenue or Bond Street.
Best meal abroad?
Le Club 55 in St-Tropez. They have the best salad Niçoise, the best omelettes – I like quite simple food. They also have the best ambiance.
Greatest travel luxury?
Sending my luggage ahead, so that I don't have to stand in line at baggage reclaim. I've done it for about seven years and it's brilliant – they pick it up the day before and then it will be waiting when you arrive. It's luxury beyond belief.
I didn't do it when we came back from Miami recently and had to hang about in the airport for 65 minutes. I timed it!
Where next?
The South of France and then Marrakech for somebody's wedding. I've been before and I like it a lot. I don't know which hotel – my husband takes care of all of that – I just get on the plane, honey.

PRESS UPDATE : THINK SPAIN NEWS.. JUNE 3RD 2014 ..

Joan Collins in Benidorm – both the town and the TV series
By:
thinkSPAIN , Tuesday, June 3, 2014
DYNASTY actress Joan Collins caused a stir in Benidorm this morning (Tuesday) where she has travelled to film a chapter for the British series of the same name.
UK-born Joan, looked resplendent as she posed for a photo with councillor Gema Amor and series producer Pere Agulló and chatted to Mayor Agustin Navarro.
Sister of 'bonkbuster' novelist Jackie, Joan has already featured in the comedy Benidorm during its sixth season and will appear again in another episode later this year.
The show, based on location in the Costa Blanca town using its hotel facilities, streets in the old town and cabaret club Benidorm Palace, centres on a working class Lancashire family, Janice and Mick Garvey and their teenage son Michael, plus a couple of middle-aged swingers from Middlesborough, Janice's chain-smoking, bad-tempered, chewed-leather mum Madge, and snobby Kate and put-upon husband Martin, among others.

Stereotypes of Brits in Benidorm are milked for all they are worth – Mick has been in trouble for benefit fraud, Michael goes 'missing' on a party boat full of girls and alcohol, Madge is held up at customs as her tanning pills are mistaken for drugs, and right in the middle of the kitsch action involving socially-inept teenage boys trying desperately to get girlfriends, annoying holiday rep Janice, transvestite bar staff, kiss-me-quick hats and England T-shirts, topical ideas of Spain are also played out with hunky Spanish barman Mateo having affairs with practically every woman, married or otherwise, who asks him – and most of them do.

As well as Benidorm, nearby Altea – a total contrast to the lively, cheesy, high-rise resort town – featured in the first series as Kate and Martin find their smart Parador in the quiet, cobbled, historic village is overbooked and they have no choice but to stay in Benidorm's La Solana hotel, making snappy Kate with her superiority complex live out her worst nightmare.
Altea's Neo-Classical architecture, windy lanes and blue-domed church – typical architecture of the Comunidad Valenciana – show British viewers that even just a couple of kilometres outside of the Costa Blanca's 'Blackpool with sun', the panorama totally changes and Spain as it really is for the natives is alive and well.

Benidorm is said to have one of the largest audience shares of all TV programmes aired in the UK, but its following in Spain by those who have satellite television with British channels is greater still as they can identify with their own experiences of holidaymakers and of people-watching in the fun-but-tacky, must-see-at-least-once tourist haven.

PHOTO OF THE DAY : JOAN'S AT THE HEAD OF THE GUEST LIST IN BENIDORM!

Joan is enjoying her return to 'Benidorm' and is having fun shooting scenes for season 7 of the hit comedy series. Here is a shot of Joan on set with series regular Jake Canuso and series creator Derren Litten who is guesting as Joan's character Crystal's, chauffeur!

PHOTO OF THE DAY : BENIDORM'S THE LATEST GUEST HOT SPOT FOR JOAN!
